The di.vi.sion piano trio is an exciting New York City-based ensemble that performs and presents both traditional and new music repertoire. Formed in New York City in 2001 as part of di.vi.sion, the di.vi.sion piano trio is now in its fifteenth season. The personnel comprises Kurt Briggs, Violin; Matt Goeke, Cello; and Renée Cometa Briggs, Piano. Its repertoire ranges from Haydn and De Fesch to Shostakovich and Ravel. The trio has commissioned Constance Cooper's Play Within A Play, Douglas Anderson's Chamber Symphony No. 4, and Merrill Clark’s Prime Divisions all of which interweave the compositional techniques of division with the composer's own system. They have also performed music by other contemporary composers including Ezra Donner, Ben Yarmolinsky and Ellen Taaffe Zwilich. The trio will premiere new works by American composers Steven Burke, Anthony Gatto, and David Keberle in the 2015-2016 and 2016-2017 seasons.
Upcoming concerts in the 2015-2016 season will find the di.vi.sion piano trio at the Bronx Community College, CUNY; Century Club, New York City; and Saugerties Pro Musica, New York, as well as their well received four-concert series di.vi.sion@mediator at the historic Church of the Mediator in the Bronx.
